Research — Modeling

The transported probability density function model and the thickened flame model are actively pursued by CTF@UCONN.

Mean axial velocity and mean equivalence ratio superimposed by streamlines. Dots indicate flame fronts. Clearly, the flame largely propagates through uniform mixture in SwB1 and through stratified mixture in SwB9.
Three flames from the Cambridge nonswirl stratified flame series are modeled through LES/PDF.

A swirling flame from the Cambridge bluff-body stabilized burner is also pursued.
